Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday presented the Union Budget 2021, her third as Finance Minister on Monday. For the first time, the Budget went paperless as Sitharaman read out her 110-minute speech from a tablet. Members in the Lower House were provided soft copies of the speech and documents. There were quite a few firsts in Budget 2021-2022. Many of the Budget announcements, including some related to taxation, were greeted with thumping of desk by the ruling party members.
