Equip fire safety installations or face closure: Gujarat govt goes tough on state builders after Surat tragedy

The Gujarat government on Sunday asked the builders of more than 9,000 properties, including over 1,100 in the diamond city, in the state to equip themselves with fire safety installations within three days. The properties would face closure on failure to equip installations, the state government said. The development came after the devastating fire tragedy in Surat, that claimed the lives of 22 people.
