Sabaraimala showdown LIVE updates: Tension prevails in Nilackal ahead of opening of Lord Ayyappa’s temple today; police evict protesters

The doors of Lord Ayyappa’s temple in Kerala’s Sabarimala are all set to open today. The pilgrims have started arriving at Nilackal, the base camp of Sabaraimala temple.  Ahead of the opening of the temple, tension prevailed in Kerala’s Nilackal, the main gateway to Sabarimala, after the police used force to disperse devotees opposing the entry of girls and women of menstrual age into the hill shrine.
